84 different races in 3 track classes, 16 different vehicles, 3 playing modes, create tracks, realistic vehicle physics and damage, up to 4 player head-to-head competition.
There are four gameplay modes to appeal to every sort of rally racing fan. There's an arcade mode, for people who don't especially like to hit the brakes; a championship mode, for people who want to compete against three other cars for the rally championship title; a rally trophy mode, which is more like actual rally racing; and a time trial mode. You can also tweak your car settings, repair your car, and even create your own tracks.
V-Rally 2 is one of the best looking racer on PS. For those of you who have ever watched a rally race broadcast on TV, you'll instantly recognize most of the rally cars in this game. The rally car in this game will collect dirt (and even snow) as you speed through the narrow track, and the visual damage displayed on the rally car is the best I've seen on any PS racer. The rally tracks that spread around the globe are also very nicely done, adding more realism into the game. There're also some animations going on around the tracks, like rally fans running back to the side of the road as the car approaches, or a little land slides with rocks falling all over the track, they're all done very nicely. The only drawback in the graphic department is that there're some pop up, but they never distract your driving. In a nutshell, this game has pushed the PSX to it's limits, if you want any better than this, you'll probably have to get a PS2.
