The 39-year-old Australian screen goddess -- the highest-paid actress in Hollywood -- was treated at the Cedars Sinai Hospital after a stunt vehicle crashed into a lamppost, police said.
"At about 1:00 am (0900 GMT) this morning, a stunt vehicle traveling at 300 West 6th Street went off the road and collided with a light pole," Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Martha Garcia told AFP.
"There were reports of minor complaints, but the people involved made their own arrangements to go to hospital and have since been released. Any injuries were minor."
Garcia confirmed that Kidman was in the car that crashed. The street in downtown Los Angeles where the movie was being filmed had been closed to the public at the time, she added.
A spokesperson for Kidman's publicist said a formal statement would be released later Thursday.
Kidman, who won an Oscar in 2003 for her portrayal of British writer Virginia Woolf in "The Hours," was filming the sci-fi movie "Invasion," directed by Germany's Oliver Hirschbiegel, when the crash took place.
Kidman plays a Washington psychiatrist who unearths the origin of an alien epidemic in the film.
