Having played the Nintendo Wii, I have to agree with those gamers that think the console is a good all around platform for entertainment. The Nintendo console appeals to a lot of audiences both young and old, which is mainly due to the way the Wii has changed the way people think about playing video games thanks to the Wii Remote and the Wii Balance Board.Unfortunately, the one area that the Wii does not shine in is high-quality video or more appropriately, the lack thereof. Wii opponents are quick to point out that the Wii lacks high-definition output which the Sony PS3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 proudly boast of as a standard feature.
As many times as the Nintendo has revised their hand-held platform, the DS, surely Nintendo would be getting ready to offer a new high-definition Wii to put high-definition complaints to rest, right? Maybe not.According to a recent GameSpot interview with Nintendo North America VP of Sales and Marketing, Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo is apparently happy with the position the Wii is in right now. the Wii has room to grow and is still a popular console for Nintendo, those of you waiting for a Wii in HD will have to keep on waiting. Of course if Sony or Microsoft starts talking about a replacement to their popular gaming consoles, Nintendo will naturally follow suit. One would imagine.
